Amazon Ecotourism: An Evolving Story

It was a lovely evening to meet the members, present and online, for this presentation. We had some limitations in getting sound for the videos so we invite everyone to view them to get the full story.

If you are interested in learning a bit more about the Huaorani, there is a movie called “The End of The Spear” on DVD from the Short Grass Library system. I also recommend a book called “Five Wives” by Winnipeg author Joan Thomas. It is also in the Short Grass system. This book is a fictionalized story, but strongly based on true events. She mentions the ecotourism project I had shown from our trip, and I later contacted her to let her know that I was related to that project and we had a lovely chat about all things Huaorani. ( In the book and the movie they also use the words Waorani and Wadani. Pronunciations vary from English to Spanish as the people themselves do not have a written language. ) I also have a great photographic journal that I bought in Ecuador, “The Spirit of the Huaorani” by Pete Oxford and Renne Blish.
